i am not very profound so i will botch up a quote of someone who is, GK Chesterton. i couldn't find the exact quote online, but heard this last week at church and thought it was appropriate to post on this thanksgiving eve.
paraphrase: Children thank God for filling their stockings on Christmas morning, but why are we not thankful to God for filling our stockings with legs.
well this is all to real to me as i sit in my apartment in nyc with two layers of pants on my legs. one layer of wonderful leggings my dearest mother sent me and one layer of old faithful blue jeans. it is hard to believe how much we take for granted in this life we have been given. i can honestly say it has been a rare occurance in my life that i have genuinely been thankful for the clothing on my body and sadly far less for the body that fills the clothes. i am thankful for the "big" things ya know...family, friends, health, wealth, and the usa, but its the small things in life that consistently get overlooked.
so i dont mean to be provoking thought by any means. instead i will end by telling you that tonight i am thankful for my heat and hot water that was absent from my life at 6:15 this morning. brrr...
